The South-West Indian Ocean (SWIO) workgroup includes IOC members (Comoros, France, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles) as well as continental countries (Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania). The purpose of this workgroup is to coordinate the Long Range Forecasts acitvities at regional scale. This main topic entails two related activities dedicated to Data Managment on one side and to Climate Monitoring on the other side. The Regional Climate Outlook Forum (RCOF) associated to this region is usually held in september. It ensures the development and sharing of good practices in line with WMO recommendations. (More information about the SWIOCOF Here )

This portal provides the workgroup with some useful material including:
  • Data at Large, Regional and Local scales that can be used for downscaling GCMs forecasts and climate monitoring - monthly updates -

  • Regional LRF produced by statistical adaptation of GCM simulations over the SWIO region (Includes verification maps) - monthly updates -
